Commercial painting built around your schedule

Commercial painting jobs fail for one reason more than any other: the prep gets skipped to hit a deadline. Walls get painted over grime, old adhesion failures, or bare drywall that was never primed. Two years later, you're peeling. Krepela Painting doesn't operate that way. Every commercial project we take on starts with a thorough surface assessment, because a coat of paint is only as good as what's underneath it. If you manage a property, run a retail space, or are finishing out an office build, contact us before you hand the job to whoever submits the lowest number.

What drives cost on a commercial painting project comes down to a handful of real factors: square footage, current surface condition, ceiling height and access, the number of coats required, and whether the space needs to stay partially operational during the work. A small retail refresh and a multi-unit building repaint are completely different scopes, and quoting them the same way doesn't make sense. We scope every job individually. Every job is different -- contact Krepela Painting for an accurate estimate.

Our Approach

Prep work is where commercial paint jobs are won or lost Prep work

Most paint failures trace back to something that happened before a drop of finish coat touched the wall.

On commercial properties, surfaces take a beating. Scuffs, grease transfer near entry points, moisture behind exterior walls, patched drywall that was never sealed -- these aren't cosmetic issues, they're adhesion problems waiting to surface. We assess before we quote, and we tell you exactly what prep is required. That includes cleaning, sanding, filling, priming, and masking. It's not glamorous work, but skipping it is how you end up repainting the same wall two years from now. We won't skip it, and we won't tell you it's fine when it isn't.

What We Handle

Commercial spaces Krepela Painting works in Commercial spaces

01

Office Spaces

Interior repaints for single-tenant and multi-tenant office builds. We coordinate around business hours when full shutdowns aren't possible, and we leave the space cleaner than we found it.

02

Retail Interiors

Retail walls take abuse. Cart scuffs, tape adhesive residue, display hardware holes -- we prep all of it before applying finish. The goal is a surface that looks sharp and holds up to foot traffic.

03

Multi-Unit Residential

Common areas, hallways, stairwells, and individual unit turns. Property managers can schedule unit repaints as part of tenant turnover without the coordination headache of managing multiple contractors.

04

Light Industrial and Warehouse

Epoxy floor coatings, equipment markings, or wall repaints in production environments require different prep and product selection than standard drywall. We know which products hold in these conditions.

05

New Construction Finish-Out

We work with contractors and developers on finish-coat painting for new commercial builds. Fine finishing on trim and detail work is available where the spec calls for it.

What sets this apart from a volume-bid painting crew

  1. 01

Colin is the contractor, not a dispatcher

When you hire Krepela Painting, Colin Krepela is involved in your project directly. You're not dealing with a crew coordinator who's never held a brush.

  2. 02

We don't take on jobs we can't do right

If a project timeline is too compressed to allow proper prep, we'll say so. We'd rather decline a job than deliver a result we wouldn't stand behind.

  3. 03

    Scheduling built around your operations

We work with property managers and business owners to schedule around tenant hours, business operations, and building access windows. Call us early -- last-minute commercial schedules rarely work well for anyone.

Frequently asked questions about commercial painting

How long does a commercial interior repaint typically take?
It depends almost entirely on square footage, ceiling height, surface condition, and whether the space needs to remain operational during painting. A small office refresh might run two to three days. A full multi-unit hallway and stairwell repaint could take a week or more. We give you a realistic timeline in the estimate -- not an optimistic one that falls apart on day two.
What type of paint is best for high-traffic commercial walls?
For most commercial interiors, a high-quality eggshell or satin finish in a durable latex formulation holds up better than flat paint under scuffing and cleaning. Specific environments -- kitchens, bathrooms, medical offices -- may warrant semi-gloss or specialty coatings. We recommend the right product for the surface and the use case, not just whatever's on the truck.
Do you paint occupied commercial spaces, or does the building need to be empty?
We can work in occupied or partially occupied spaces. It requires more coordination -- phased sections, off-hours scheduling, proper ventilation management, and low-VOC product selection in some cases. The scope and logistics get addressed during the site assessment so there are no surprises once work starts.
How do you handle surface repairs before painting in commercial buildings?
We handle standard surface prep: filling nail holes and dents, patching drywall, sanding rough surfaces, and priming bare or repaired areas. If there's significant drywall damage or structural issues behind a wall, we'll flag it before we paint over it. Painting over a problem doesn't fix it -- it just makes it your problem again in 18 months.
What's the difference between commercial and residential painting in terms of how the job is run?
Commercial jobs usually involve larger areas, tighter scheduling windows, and coordination with building management or tenants. Product selection often differs too -- commercial surfaces need coatings that stand up to cleaning chemicals, higher humidity, and heavier use. The preparation standards are the same. A wall that isn't properly prepped fails regardless of whether it's in a living room or a lobby. See also our residential painter and interior painting pages if you're comparing scope.
Can you match existing paint colors for a partial repaint or touch-up project?
Yes. We can match from existing wall samples or from a paint specification if the original color is documented. Color matching on older painted surfaces isn't always a perfect science -- paint shifts with age and light exposure -- but we'll get as close as the surface allows and be upfront with you if the match won't be seamless.
